Attended another Microsoft Connections Event today, I always feel like I don’t learn much but I always get a few nuggets of wisdom. As this event was just down the street from Woodland I thought it would be nice to maybe meet up with others out there in the local tech area. I’ve already been running Office 2007 and Vista so I just wanted to see some bells and whistles that are usually shown, and maybe win some free stuff. The coolest think I learned and hadn’t notices before was the image options, hence the picture below. I also noticed the blogging options in Word so I thought I would try the combination of the two where I can set up login for my blog and the picture options and it uploads and publishes it all automatically (at least that what I think is going to happen).

I was happy to see that I wasn’t the only one wishing they were in Texas at the Church IT Roundtable. Fellow blogger Jim Walton summed my first thoughts with his post Is Church IT Roundtable Disconnected?. Being in Florida I may not have quite the jealousy of others to actually go to Texas, but the thoughts of BBQ and Mexican food certainly don’t help.
I’m sure there are many posts just sitting out there traffic jammed on the information superhighway, must be that Google Lag on my google reader.

After much difficulty, and trial and error I finally got Postie setup to allow full blogging abilities from my Treo. As the only website that has the cron plugin was down all day, I setup to use the cronless posting which will hopefully work just fine. So how do you moblog?

Yes, the team won it all in 2004 is back in the playoffs and I think this qualifies as a valid post as the St. Pete Times forum is just seconds from the water. So all that to say I expect the Lightning once again will be going far in the playoffs and in the perfect world the Stanley Cup finals will be your Tampabay Lightning vs. the Dallas Stars.
GO LIGHTNING!

I’ve had this domain in my back pocket for quite a while. It originally was going to be a side business where I did some side work for people and smaller businesses then I realized who has time for that. So now I’ve decided to my blog official and give it it’s own domain and make the move from blogger to WordPress. Still learning but looks like it should have lots of fun toys and plugins.
So Welcome and Enjoy!

My last post just two weeks ago was the beginning of a very long couple of weeks. While nothing particularily could have been done to prevent it, there was also no redundancy. First one of the two media converters connecting the fiber between our two current building went bad. The building affected of course was the church offices with almost the entire minsterial and support staff not able to connect to the internet or the LAN. We had all our fiber re-terminated and it worked better than before, until two days later when our T1 went down. It was going up and down and they got this fixed within a day a half, which was great until 1/2 an hour later (no exageration) the main data trunk of our provider was cut. This normally wouldn’t be a huge time delay other than it was running under a manhole and that had to be drained and traffic rerouted before they could repair. Fun couple of weeks!
Needless to say we are currently looking at a wireless redundant system to connect the two buildings and a secondary internet line from a different provider.
Any help assistance or solutions you’ve already gone through in these areas would be greatly appreciated.

Today seems to be one of those days. Computer issues, server issues, none of the normal fixes seem to want to work. They will all get fixed, I will learn something from it, and the next time it’ll be just one of those problems and not one of those days.
God Bless
