Hey Tony,

I'm going to use your most recent post recap on what to look for in a CMS to try to explain this the best I know how, of course this is how I'm doing it that doesn't mean there is a better or easier way.

First I make my post and reference your post, CMS Principles, reviewed. I then hyperlink that to the permalink for that post http://tonydye.typepad.com/main/2005/12/cms_principles_.html
Then I finish my post referencing your post and save and publish it.

I then go over to the Wizbang pinger that I referenced in my trackback post. In the top box I enter your trackback url (http://www.typepad.com/t/trackback/3782700) which can be found on the permalink page of your post.

In the second box would go the permalink url for the post I just created.

Third box would be the title of my blog.(My Mind to your Monitor) The title of the post I just created. (9 ingredients to bake a CMS)

And in the bottom box goes a short excerpt from the post I just created. Click on the submit trackback button and all should be done. Hope this helps.

Derek, as you dig into trackback, if you come up with a simple way to explain it, please share. I understand the basic concept of giving credit for sources, but the concept of sending a trackback "ping" just doesn't add much clarity to this novice. Thanks for your post.
